Blood is thicker than water.  The bond between a mother and daughter is undeniabley unique--in the way in which Eve is alleged to have sprung form Adam's rib, their bones, sinews, and cells were once one.  Whether as smooth as a calm sea or as stormy as a tempest, the mother daughter relationship is distinctive.  When a doughter gently steps into her mother's footsteps, as if trying on her shoes, and follows the same path, in this scenario the journey of art, th union is amplified.  In the case of Amato and Alhadeff, each respects, reveres, and responds to the other's work.  Each is equally fearless, probing, and expressive, both artistically and intellectually, culminating in a potent blend.  The ties that bind Micaela and Cara are unimpaired by distance-the fact the one resides on the east coast and the other on the west is of no consequesnce.  I came to the daughter's work through the mother's, and it resonated for me as an echo that makes it's own distinct and melodic sound.  Through their singular relationship, these two artists merge their work in an exhibition that explores, celebrates, and articulates life and lineage.
